Change the Narrative. Change the Future.

This is the motto for IllumiNative, a Native women-led org I have the good fortune of working for. As their Graphic Designer, I’ve embarked on various projects and campaigns. Here are a few.

Land Back. More than a hashtag.

Land Back is more than a slogan, it’s an action and commitment everyday on occupied stolen Native land. Native peoples deserve access, safety, and protection on their ancestral homelands.

For this design, I worked with our branding and featured licensed images of sacred lands. This was a carousel for social media where I wanted to evoke the feeling of a magazine article or spread to inform our audience.

A Creative Collab

A Celebration of Indigenous Queer Intimacies is a virtual gallery sharing intimate Indigenous queer moments witnessed and captured from a variety of photographers.

We, the Creative team, led the artist outreach and design initiatives in this campaign for both social media and our website.

Beyond the Lens. Reframing the story of the Osage Nation.

With the premiere of Killers of the Flower Moon, the importance of the narrative Native people have on screen, and the discussions and intentional work that went on off screen is crucial.

For this design, I used my photography knowledge to influence the design style and depth of the cover image and backgrounds. I also created Osage-inspired elements you see throughout, that work with our branding.

In collaboration with BAAITS, the Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits.

I had the pleasure of leading and creating this design and highlighting an incredible group of Two-Spirit relatives. In tune with our IllumiNative branding, my design goal was to evoke softness and great care in honoring the individuals featured.

Change The Name

Native people are not your mascot. Sports have the power to influence and inspire people of all ages. Before I joined the team, IllumiNative launched a campaign to change the name of an NFL sports team, where actions were taken to end systemic racism. I was able to create extra graphics and animate them for the project.

Rhythms of Resilience. Highlighting five indigenous poets.

This design was a lot of fun. It was important to create a design that would stand out and captivate our audience. Image assets were licensed.
